My First Experience with a Mail Order Clothing stylist…Less than Ideal

I love the idea of your own stylist sending tailored outfits to your home for you to try on and ย keep what you love. It is a brilliant Idea. Some companies are better than others…I’m learning from experience…

Although my first experience with it was less than Ideal. – I started by trying Trunk Club first, which I did not know was associated with Nordstroms. (Which I have no issue with at all…) I informed my stylist that if I was to be paying reasonable amounts of money for the clothing, they needed to be for work. (My out of work clothes I do not spend a lot on at all).

I requested closed toe shoes – because I work in the automotive service field, and I frequently am walking through the shop, and sandals and open tow are not permitted. No jeans, as I can not wear them to work. I also provided my sizes – I am a size 2 in the waist, 4 pants and small top.

When the package arrived I was VERY excited to be getting new clothes to try on. I opened the box to a pair of boot cut jeans (which were adorable and fit really well) – for $114.00. (I can’t wear them to work…)

There were also a couple of shift dresses. They were not fitted to me at all, and appeared as though someone had cut a hole in a pillow case and stuffed it over my head. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

A couple of other shirts, which were cute but hung funny on me, as I am smaller and not busty at all…

A pair of open toe maroon booties. (Open toe? Now I am getting the impression that I was not listened to at all) They were cute – for $120 – I’m currently on a budget and can not spend this much for non-work attire.

And a couple of sweater jackets….They showed a pants jump suit that I did not receive. It was just another Sweater Jacket…I live in Florida… ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Needless to say, I was not happy. I did not want to loose the 25$ that I spent to have the items sent out to me, although there was nothing in this assortment that I had ANY interest in keeping.

I sent everything back, and cancelled my membership there. It would not be so bad if they sent me items I had asked for, and made it seemย like they tried. But it was everything I did NOT ask for.

I have also just tried Stitch Fix, because I decided to give this another try. And I was so Happy that I did. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ll be posting on Stitch Fix next

Furniture Remodels

Staples, Staples and, well, more STAPLES!ย

Last night I got motivated to remove the upholstery from the dining rooms chairs. Or, rather, from one chair. There are SO MANY STAPLES.

My hands hurt from twisting the flat head screw driver to pry them out. ๐Ÿ˜•

I removed the cushion first. That was easy. It was held down in the corners by 4 screws.

Next came the back. I didn’t know where to start with this one, so a little help from the tutorial on Miss Mustard Seeds website led me in the right direction. (THANK YOU!)

You guessed it. Staples! The first set of staples was between the piping surrounding the cushion.

After this was removed – more staples holding on the front fabric….

Remove these staples –

And more staples holding the foam pad in place. Removed these staples…

And yet MORE staples holding on the back material. Lol.

Now I have a chair ready for sanding and paint. Only 6 more to go. Lol

Amazing cardboard playhouse

Strolling on Pinterest – (as per usual) – I came across this post from Tales of a Monkey, a Bit, and a Beanย for THE COOLEST indoor cardboard play house. I had to share!

I am most certainly going to attempt to make something like this (Batman and BatGirl Themed of Course) for my little rug rats. ๐Ÿ™‚

I am sure that i can scrounge up the cardboard that I need to create it, then paint it cool colors. Too bad it will have to wait until I have completed all the real house furniture in the meantime… ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

New Dining Table & Chairs

Just purchased a dining table set off of Swip Swap, expecting delivery this evening. ๐Ÿ™‚ Looking forward to my next project –

I am going to reupholster the chairs in a bright and happy fabric, stain it dark walnut, then give it a whitewashed finish. Add some trim to the base and a farmhouse top. And build a coordinating bench/settee for against the wall – Something like this…

That’s the plan anyways… Here are the fabric options I am debating on as well –

I am off to Jo-Ann Fabrics to go and find something fun! It helps they always have awesome coupons. ๐Ÿ™‚ 50% off any cut by the yard fabric…

UPDATE – So the 2 fabrics that I chose are not offered on the website. I chose a beautiful blue and white pattern (which is the one I am going to be using on the dining table project) and a burlap and silver material. (Which the two chairs that will not be in the dining room will be upholstered with.)

I will be using the floral fabric for the seat cushion, as well as the back material on the reverse side. ย The back on the front will be a plain white, and I may add some tacks for accenting…

Many people tell me when I say I want the cushions white – “But you have kids” – I know. But if you properly seal the fabric it will be protected from spills and child accidents. ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  See Pretty Handy Girl’s post hereย where she uses sealant on her fabric. ๐Ÿ™‚

Loving these Night Stands!

My bedroom is currently a blank slate. The walls are a Blue/Gray, nice and neutral. And I am on the hunt for inspiration on where to go with it next. Found images of these side tables on Pinterest – And I am in LOVE! I wonder where I can find this hardware?

I have grand plans for my relaxation space. It just won’t be all that relaxing until it’s completed. LOL. I’ll be stressing about all the work ahead of me until it’s completion.

You can visit Popsugar by clicking the image and seeing the page. AMAZING! Definitely a future build for me.

And for hardware –ย 773199306207

Kind of in love with this drawer pull ring….. Found it at Lowes. ๐Ÿ™‚ I think this is going to be a great project for me. ๐Ÿ™‚

Up & Coming Living Room

I have so many projects that I need to get done. If I take in the full scope of it, it is a little overwhelming. Here’s the start of it…

My new home has no real furniture. None. Seriously. ย I have a sofa that I purchased on Swip Swap – (I love that site). I bought a real brown leather sectional for 500$. I feel like that was a great deal. And it is a LaZboy. ๐Ÿ™‚ And other than that, the room is empty.

You thought I was kidding… lol.

My TV is sitting on the fireplace mantel, which I hope to have wall mounted soon.

My next projects for my house are to make a Coffee Table – I am undecided on which style to build – These are 3 I found that I love on Pinterest.

I love them all, they are all beautiful. ๐Ÿ™‚ But I am leaning towards the rectangular tables because of have large the sectional is…

Then to make the end tables to match. ๐Ÿ™‚

Also, just this past week I picked up a steal on a rug from Wayfair.com. Only $39.95. ๐Ÿ™‚ for a 5×7. We shall see how it all comes together…
